The East Marshall senior heads into the new year as one of the top scorers in all of Iowa boys high school basketball at 28.5 points per game. He has scored 20 or more points in each of the Mustangs’ 10 games this year and has hit for 29 or more six times. Seim adds eight rebounds and four assists a night.
A starting lineup of five seniors has East Marshall out to an 8-2 record.
Seim averaged 15 points per game last year and signed before the season started to play at Northwestern College next year.
“With his leadership and play, he’s definitely stepped up being a senior,” said East Marshall head coach Bob Berggren.
“I think the people around him have a lot of confidence in him and get him the ball where he can do many good things.”
The Mustangs are on a five-game winning streak and get back into NICL West play Thursday against South Hardin and Friday at AGWSR.
East Marshall is 2-2 in conference play after suffering back-to-back losses to Gladbrook-Reinbeck and Grundy Center.
“We lost to two very good teams on their home floor,” Berggren said. “If we can take care of business on our home floor we can get right back in the conference race.”
After the games against South Hardin and AGWSR, the Mustangs will be at the halfway point of the conference season.
“We’re hitting a stretch where we have to play really good basketball,” Berggren said.
