Frank Wingrove

Dr. Frank Wingrove died on Jan. 1, 2008, after a hard fought journey for a cure for the cancer he was diagnosed with in May 2007.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Adams Funeral Home, 502 Douglas Ave., Ames. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be given in memory of Frank to LiveStrong.org.

He loved life, education, and travel with his wife Susan. He was born in Arion, the son of Linn and Martha Wingrove. Frank graduated with a BS from Iowa State University, and then taught science in Elkhorn & Sioux City before starting dental school in 1969. After graduating in 1973 in dentistry from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, he went on to get his Masters in Periodontics in 1975 and his MBA in 1989 from University of Iowa Business School. He practiced Periodontics in Ames, Charles City, Marshalltown, Pella, and Waterloo.

Frank also enjoyed teaching at the University of Iowa Dental School and doing research with Regena Therapeutics. Frank will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and healer.

Survivors include: his wife, Susan; their children, Dawn (Scott), DaNae (Paul), Danielle, Ryan (Beth) and Reid (Deana); siblings Linda Dreibelbis, and Cheri Humphry; and one grandchild, Bailey.
