Robert James “Rob” Olson, 51, of Marshalltown, died May 6, 2008, at his home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to the family. Born Robert James Olson on March 29, 1957, in Waterloo, Iowa, he was the son of James Claron and JoAnn (Weigle) Olson. He received his education in the Waukon schools and later his farm management degree from Hawkeye Institute of Technology. Rob resided in Waterloo and moved to Marshalltown 15 years ago. He was the owner of Angler’s Choice Bait Shop and Rob Olson Construction.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He had the biggest heart of anyone that you would meet.

Left to cherish Rob’s memory are his son, Tony (Tiffany) Olson of Norway; his parents, Jim and JoAnn Olson of Waterloo; his grandchildren, Makayla and Makenna Olson of Norway, and Taylor Olson of Marshalltown; his brother, Bill (Cathy) Olson of Dysart; his sister, Carrie (Mark) Johnson of Waterloo; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

In death, he has rejoined his grandparents; and his wife, Marge, who died in 2005.
