A new data center to backup information from Emerson operations across the globe will soon be built in Marshalltown, the company announced.
Fiber optic infrastructure will be added to service the center, which is expected to occupy 12,000 square feet in an existing building at Fisher's Governor Road campus.
Construction of the $12 million project is anticipated to start this spring and finish in the first quarter of 2009, when a so far undetermined number of Emerson employees will be moved to town to join current Fisher employees as staff for the facility.

who knows? this may be just the push Microsoft needs to convince them to come here! If we're good enough for Emerson, they might decide we're good enough for them, too.

This will be excellent for the community. These are the kind of jobs this town desperately need! Now if Marshalltown could only talk Microsoft into building their data center here!
