Barry Murray, 68

Barry Murray, 68, of Marshalltown, died Oct. 8, 2008, at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center while in the care of his loving family and Iowa River Hospice.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, with Pastor Gregg Davison officiating. He will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery, with a flag presentation by American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post #46. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Mitchell Family Funeral Home.

Born on Nov. 8, 1939, in Perry, Iowa, he was the son of Clarence and Evelyn (Wagner) Murray. He graduated from Perry High School in 1957. In the early 1960s, he served our country honorably in the United States Army. On Dec. 26, 1965, in Des Moines, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Eileen Hansen. They have made their home in Marshalltown since 1966. Mr. Murray was employed with National Cash Register for 33 years and was active in rental properties and home restoration. Barry also was a home and commercial real estate appraiser for Wobeter Appraisal in Toledo.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, sports and treasured his family. He was kind, compassionate and a loving father and husband.

Left to cherish his memory is Eileen, his loving wife of 42 years; three children: Mike (Linda) Murray of Muskego, Wis., and their children Ryan, Evan and Kaelyn; Greg (Holly) Murray of Bettendorf and Janna (Jason) Clement of Clearwater, Fla.; his sister, Marlys Bedoya of Downey, Calif.; his father and mother-in-law, Norman and LaVonne Hansen of Hampton; his sisters-in-law Norma Jean Caruth of Hollister, Mo. and Patty Voy of Elma; brother-in-law, Larry Hansen of Hampton; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

In death he has rejoined his parents.
