PUBLIC COMMENT: There are opportunities to speak to any issue during the meeting or topics not on the agenda at the end of the meeting.
The Marshalltown City Council will be reconsidering a couple of different motions when it meets in regular session Monday.
The first deals with changes to the electronic sign ordinance. The council is set to consider a motion to possibly remove all the changes to electronic signs and pass a stripped down ordinance for the time being.
That ordinance is a logistical move to put the sections relating to signs all in one area of the code.
The council then may revisit the sign issue later on, after the Planning and Zoning Commission has had time to make any changes that board deems necessary.
Concerns over the regulations of electronic signs were raised by several local businessman, some of whom have invested more than $75,000 in their signs to give it electronic and motion capability.
Most of the advanced features of such signs would have been outlawed under the ordinance the council was first considering.
The other issue deals with a rezoning of some property off of Lincolnway near Sixth Street. One resident had concerns about the possible refinancing of her home should the rezoning move from residential to commercial.
