MASON CITY - Marshalltown placed fourth out of seven teams at the Mohawk girls' track meet on Monday, collecting five first- or second-place finishes.
The Bobcats owned the throwing events, with Brie Pettigrew winning the discus (109 feet, 11 inches) and Chelsea Feldmann taking the shot put (34-2 1/4).
Lydia Martin broke the tape in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 26.75 seconds. So did Marshalltown's 4x200-meter relay of Sam Horn, Mackenzie Beals, Kelsey Hood and Maira Schaumburg (1:53.90).
Schaumburg added a silver medal in the 200, going 27.41.
The Bobcats scored 87 points, placing behind champion Ames (166), Waverly-Shell Rock (106) and Fort Dodge (95). Mason City, Forest City and Clear Lake held down the last three spots.
