You hear the question posed often.
"What is wrong with our youth nowadays?"
People call them disrespectful, lewd and vulgar. You would be hard-pressed to find any of that behavior among the children at the Central Iowa Fair this past week. As we covered events throughout the week, the 4-H members could not have been more respectful and kind.
What sticks out about these children is they actually care. They care about their projects or animals they devoted a year to working on. They care what the judges think of their work. And they care about others at the fair.
Oh, and here is a new one, they were happy. You could not walk 10 feet without seeing a smile. One 4-H member we did a story was so wide-eyed to be interviewed by a reporter you could tell it was very special to her.
A hat's off to a job well done by the 4-H youth and their supporters at the fair this year. We know you are helping ensure the future is bright.
