Associate Court

Initial appearances

Rafael Santiago Herrera Lopez, 106 Harmony Dr., made an initial appearance on a Sept. 22 public intoxication charge. He pled guilty and was fined $100, $35 surcharge, $60 court cost for a total of $195.

Travis Branon, 320 N. 12th Ave., made an initial appearance on a July 24 theft, 5th degree and possession of a Schedule I Controlled substance (marijuana) charge. A preliminary hearing date was set.

Ryan Anderson, 1506 S. 1st St., made an initial appearance on interference with official acts, two counts of driving under suspension, two counts of failure to obey stop or yield signs, reckless driving, operating without registration and no insurance charges on Sept. 27. He will participate in Rocket Docket this Friday.

Vincent Cronbaugh, 613 1/2 E. Anson St., made an initial appearance on disorderly conduct, interference with official acts and two counts of violation of no-contact order charges on Sept. 27. A hearing was set for Oct. 12 and bond on the no-contact counts was set at $1,000.

Police Department

Incidents

On Sept. 25, Brad Thompson, 1303 S. 1st Ave., reported damage to the right rear window on a 2000 Chevy Impala while parked at his residence and the theft of a Garmin Nuvi 200 GPS, a Panasonic Lumix DMC, a J. L. amplifier, a Pioneer CD-Bluetooth and a Peripheral GMCO. Estimated value of loss was $1,578.

On Sept. 25, Judith Rae Imgrund, 206 E. Webster St., reported the theft of a Sears riding lawn mower from her residence. Estimated value of loss was $900.

On Sept. 25, Lori Bethann Eastwood, 406 W. State St. Apt. #1, reported the air being let out of both the front and rear tires on the right side of a 2004 Chrysler while parked at her residence. Estimated value of loss was $240.

On Sept. 25, Ashley Nicole McDowell, 710 W. Linn St., reported the theft of a PlayStation 2100 and cash from her residence. Estimated value of loss was $200.

On Sept. 24, Roland Nauman, 1001 W. State St., reported the theft of a Smith & Wesson .38 special and a Titan E27 .25 semi-automatic from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $350.

On Sept. 24, Mark Smith, 816 Roberts Terrace, reported hit and run damage to a 1995 Chevy S-10 pickup in the 10 block of South Third Street. Estimated value of loss was $6,000.

Citations

On Sept. 27, Erin Ruth Weers of Creston was cited for theft, 5th degree from Wal-Mart, 2802 S. Center St.

On Sept. 25, Daniel Craig Bartling of Liscomb was cited for harassment, 3rd degree.

On Sept. 25, Tricia Lynn Cartee of Montour was cited for theft, 5th degree from Wal-Mart.

On Sept. 27, Michael Clay Bishop, 401 S. 4th St., was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 2nd offense.

On Sept. 27, Vincent Paul Cronbaugh, 613 1/2 E. Anson St., was arrested for interference with official acts and violation of no-contact order.

On Sept. 27, Larry Cecil Sumpter, 102 S. 5th Ave. Apt. #3, was arrested for dog at large and interference with official acts.

On Sept. 27, Malcolm Jermayne Stacy of Newton was arrested for possession of a Schedule I Controlled substance (marijuana).

On Sept. 26, Jeffrey Leonard Hinkle, 704 Noble St., was arrested for disorderly conduct.

On Sept. 26, Fatima Saric, 512 E. Main St. Apt. #2, was arrested for interference with official acts.

On Sept. 26, Anthony James Shearer, 304 Jerome St., was arrested for public intoxication.

On Sept. 26, Robert James Doran, 806 N. 5th Ave., was arrested for simple domestic assault and false imprisonment.

On Sept. 26, Brandon Joseph Scovill, 401 N. 1st St. Apt. C, was arrested for public intoxication.

On Sept. 26, Indira Salguero-Guzman, 903 W. Nevada St., was arrested for interference with official acts.

On Sept. 26, Jodi Lea Rubenbauer, 401 Melody Lane Apt. #3, was arrested for possession of a Schedule I Controlled substance (marijuana).

On Sept. 26, Jacob Everett Butler, 903 W. Southridge Rd., was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

On Sept. 25, Dustin Lee Carmer, 312 N. 4th Ave., was arrested for serious domestic assault.

On Sept. 25, Melynda Renee McCord, Melbourne, was arrested for narcotics violations.

On Sept. 25, Emmy Lou Boshong, 216 N. 3rd Ave., was arrested for failure to affix drug tax stamp, three counts of prohibited acts- possession with intent to deliver, minor in a bar and possession of alcohol under legal age.

On Sept. 24, Annabelle Wilkins, 414 Sharon Ave., was arrested for three counts of attempted murder and intimidation with a dangerous weapon.

On Sept. 24, Curtis Wilkins, 414 Sharon Ave., was arrested for preventing apprehension.

On Sept. 22, Ryan Matthew Anderson, 1506 S. 1st St., was arrested for interference with official acts.

Accidents

On Sept. 27, a car driven by Jimmy Lee Clark, 306 W. Nevada St., was backed west in the 300 block of Nevada Street and then pulled forward into an alley on the south side of the road going into the yard, up a steep embankment and striking the porch on the north side of the house owned by Maureen Lynn Graves, 306 W. Nevada St. No injuries were reported. Clark was cited for failure to have a valid license or permit while operating a motor vehicle and failure to wear a seat belt. Damage to the Clark car was estimated at $2,000 while the Graves porch received an estimated $150 in damage.

On Sept. 27, a pickup driven by Mark Danner Smith, 816 Roberts Terrace, was exiting a church parking lot and travelling south on South Third Street when a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by an as yet unknown driver turned onto Third from West Church Street and collided with the Smith pickup before leaving the scene. Smith was injured but not treated or transported. Damage to the Smith pickup was estimated at $6,000.

On Sept. 25, a vehicle driven by Joaquin Torres-Corona, 612 May St., was parked on West Ingledue Street in front of Lenihan School and in an attempt to leave backed into a car driven by Gandi Kezire, 312 W. High St. #6, which had pulled in and parked behind. No injuries were reported. Torres-Corona was cited for unsafe backing on highway while Kezire was cited for failure to carry registration card. Damage to the Torres-Corona vehicle was estimated at $100 while the Kezire car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

On Sept. 25, a minivan driven by Mary Bertha Schendel, 902 W. Main St., was northbound on South Center Street approaching the intersection with Westwood Drive when due to the glare of sun it collided with a car driven by Patricia Ann Herrera, 1105 Steve's Court, which was stopped for a red light. No injuries were reported. Schendel was cited for failure to stop in a safe and sure distance. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $2,000.

Grundy County Sheriff Office

Arrests

On Sept. 21, Heather Vigil, age 34, of Knoxville was arrested on a Grundy County warrant charging her with failure to appear on a theft, 5th degree charge. She pled guilty and was released.

On Sept. 19, Becky Hoeppner, age 35, of Cedar Falls was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated, 3rd offense and driving while license is revoked. She is being held in lieu of bond.

On Sept. 19, Tina Pfeifer, age 37, of Fort Dodge was arrested for operating while intoxicated. She posted bond and was released.

Accidents

On Sept. 22, a car driven by Albert Dierks, age 75, of Gladbrook was westbound on D-67 when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Dierks car was estimated at $4,000.

On Sept. 19, a vehicle driven by Jeannette Slaughter, age 64, of Union was eastbound on 210th Street at the intersection with Highway 14 when in an attempt to turn north onto Highway 14 and due to a semi being in the turning lane it proceeded to turn and pulled into the path of a car driven by Sara Wildebour, age 20, of Grundy Center which was southbound on Highway 14 and a collision occurred. No injuries were reported. Slaughter was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway. Damage to the Wildebour car was estimated at $1,500 while the Slaughter vehicle received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

On Sept. 19, a car driven by Daniel Dickey, age 38, of Waterloo was got on the off ramp of Highway 20 at the 217 mile marker and sideswiped a vehicle driven by Garrett Eisele, age 33, of Cedar Rapids which had pulled off to the side of the ramp because of mechanical problems and then continued into the north ditch. No injuries were reported. Dickey was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Dickey car was estimated at $8,000 while the Eisele vehicle received an estimated $5,000 in damage.
