FORT DODGE - Iowa Central Community College ended a nine-match losing streak with a 25-20, 25-13, 25-20 volleyball victory over Marshalltown Community College Monday.

Vitoria Oliveira and Dani Walter shared team-high honors for MCC with five kills apiece. Casey Weatherman and Brandi Wagoner added four kills apiece. Oliveira finished with eight assists, while Stephani Benzing had seven assists.

Courtney Moore and Walter recorded 14 digs apiece.

"The key for us was to slow down their two outside hitters, which we struggled with initially," said MCC head coach Jackie Holland. "Once we got around to getting good touches with our block, we couldn't covert that to our offense."

The Tigers' court coverage and communication improved as the night went on, especially in game three, but they had put themselves in too big a hole early, Holland added.

Marshalltown (6-25) travels to Indian Hills Wednesday and follows by going to Kishwaukee's tournament Thursday-Saturday in Wisconsin Dells.

Indian Hills is led in kills for the season by former Marshalltown High School standout Tahler Johnston.
