At their monthly assembly Friday Fisher Elementary School students learned about teamwork then honored the leader of their team.
The assembly featured Marshalltown High School cheerleaders and football players who talked to the students how teamwork is important to success.
Cheerleader Sam Reisinger said during cheers it's always important to rely on each other.
"When you throw a girl into the air you have to have teamwork so they don't hit the ground," she said.
Bobcat football player Jon Vance told the students teamwork is important - especially if he misses a tackle - as teammates are there to back him up.
"Teamwork is a vital part of every play on the field," Vance said.
At the end of the assembly students and staff surprised Principal Vicki Vopava with a special cheer they practiced just for her. The cheer was in celebration of Boss's Day.
"It was quite a surprise," Vopava said.
