The H1N1 vaccination clinic in Marshalltown saw a steady flow of people getting their shots last week.
In the first three days the clinic was open to the general public, local health officials vaccinated 2,096 people at The Salvation Army.
"I think it went really, really well," said Pat Thompson, Marshall County Public Health Nurse. "I was so glad with the response of the community."
The clinics continue at The Salvation Army from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and also will be held at the same times Dec. 29 and 30 and Jan. 5 and 6.
The busiest day last week was Wednesday when 826 people were vaccinated. Thompson said the clinic ran smoothly despite hundred of walk-ins.
"We had five nurses at a time working and a wait no longer than five minutes for anybody that I'm aware of," she said.
Thompson is confident her supply of vaccination will last through the scheduled clinics.
"It keeps coming in weekly," she said.
Public Health is continuing to vaccinate students and staff at area schools. There is a clinic for the second H1N1 vaccination for those students who are younger than 10 years old from 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 9 at the Marshalltown High School library. Local health officials vaccinated thousands in the high-risk groups in recent months before opening the vaccine to the general public last week.
