Marshalltown Police Department

On Wednesday Brooke Schafbach, 1202 Fairway Dr. D, reported damage to the passenger side rear window and the dashboard on a 2009 Toyota Scion while parked at her residence. Estimated value of damage was $400.

On Wednesday Eric Nunez, 105 N. 7th St., reported damage to a passenger side window on a 2000 Dodge Intrepid while parked at his residence and the theft of an Alpine car stereo, a class ring and a window air conditioner. Estimated value of loss was $1,620.

On Wednesday an employee with Nagle Signs, 605 W. Iowa Ave., reported the theft of a Contrail 16' trailer form the business. Estimated value of loss was $4,500.

On Tuesday Michael Gerard Rapp of Alden reported damage to the right front window on a 1993 Ford Crown Victoria while parked at 309 E. Linn St., and the theft of a AM/FM/CD car stereo. Estimated value of loss was $250.

On Tuesday Maria Teresa Lopez of Tama reported the theft of a Motorola flip cell phone while trying on shoes in the Marshall Town Center. Estimated value of loss was $100.

On Monday Dustin Mark Chase, 211 E. Ferner St., reported damage to the passenger side front window on a 1985 Chevy Camaro while parked at 710 S. 3rd Ave., and the theft of a Sony car stereo. Estimated value of loss was $400.

Arrests

On Tuesday Shaun Owen Kudelka, 8 W. Webster St., was arrested for theft from building.

Accidents

On Monday a minivan driven by Alejandro Garcia-Jimenez, 1105 Jackson St., was southbound on South 18th Avenue when it went out of control, hit the curb on the west side of the road, jumped the curb, flipped onto the driver side and slid across East Anson Street on its side and then landed back on all four tires before coming to rest on the railroad tracks at which time the driver fled the scene. Garcia-Jimenez may have had possible injuries. Garcia-Jimenez was cited for damage to vehicle and operating motor vehicle with expired license. Damage to the Garcia-Jimenez minivan was estimated at $5,000.

Associate Court

Jonathan Brown, 1006 S. 8th Ave., made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated charge. He will represent himself. The Preliminary Hearing was set for 1 p.m. on March 29. Brown was released on his own recognizance with the stipulation that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit it to the court within 60 days.

Daniel Magana-Anguiano, 203 W. Grant St., made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated charge. He had an interpreter present and wanted to represent himself. The Preliminary Hearing was set for 1 p.m. on March 29. Magana-Anguiano was released on his own recognizance with the stipulation that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit it to the court within 60 days.

March 9

Jose Andrade, 408 Bromley St., made an initial appearance on a trespass charge. He pled guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75 due in full May 1.

Lisa Nauman, 1113 W. Church St., made an initial appearance on a disorderly conduct charge. She pled guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 due in full May 1.

Kristen Jaennette of Newton made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge and a disorderly conduct charge. She pled guilty to both charges and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs on both charges for a total $295.50 due in full May 1.

Michael Proffitt, 708 Lee St., made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a no insurance charge and a open container charge. Joanie Grife was appointed to handle his cases. The Pre-Trial Conference was set for 9 a.m. on April 20. Bond will continue as posted.

Javier Garcia Alvarez of Dallas, Texas, made an initial appearance on a no insurance charge, a failure to obey a stop or yield sign charge and a no valid driver's license charge. Sean Heitmann was appointed to handle his cases. The Pre-Trial Conference was set for 9 a.m. on March 16 for all three charges and a previous theft, 5th degree charge as well. Bond was set at $1,000 cash only. Garcia Alvarez also has an ICE hold in place.

Baltazar Nunez Corona, 105 N. 7th St., made an initial appearance on a harassment, 1st degree charge and a simple domestic assault charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his cases. The Preliminary Hearing was set for 1 p.m. on March 19 for both charges. Bond was set at $2,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order was set in place for the protected party. Nunez Corona was ordered to turn over any firearms to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office within 48 hours of his release.

James Andrews, 405 S. 3rd St. Apt. #2, made an initial appearance on two counts of failure to comply with the sex offender registry registration. A Public Defender was appointed to handle his cases. The Preliminary Hearing was set for 1 p.m. on March 29. Andrews was released with the supervision of the Department of Correctional Services and must sign in with them within 24 hours of his release.

Edward Burroughs of Liscomb made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. He will represent himself. The Preliminary Hearing was set for 1 p.m. on March 29. Burroughs was released on his own recognizance with the stipulation that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit it to the court within 45 days.

Flint Mayfield, 605 N. 2nd Ave., made an initial appearance on a not having his dog vaccinated for rabies. He pled guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 due in full April 1.

Bobbi Roberts, 506 S. 5th St., made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge. Barry Kaplan will represent her on the charge. The Preliminary Hearing was set for 1 p.m. on March 29. Roberts was released on her own recognizance.

March 10

James Ramer of Waterloo made an initial appearance on a theft, 3rd degree charge and a criminal mischief, 4th degree charge. A Public Defender was appointed to handle his cases. The Preliminary Hearing was set for 1 p.m. on March 29. Bond will continue as posted.

Richard Wilkening, 2564 250th St., made an initial appearance on a assault with intend to commit sexual abuse charge and harassment, 2nd degree charge. Barry Kaplan will represent Wilkening on the charges. The Preliminary Hearing was waived. A no-contact order was set in place for the protected party. Bond was set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Malin Kenneth Choneska of Tama or 112 N. 3rd St. Apt. #3, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He pled guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 due in full July 15.

Shaun Kudelka, 8 W. Webster St., made an initial appearance on a theft, 5th degree charge. He pled not guilty. The court appointed Joanie Grife to represent Kudelka. The Pre-Trial Conference was set for 9 a.m. on April 20. Kudelka was released on his own recognizance.

Anthony West, 8 S. 5th Ave., made an initial appearance on a serious domestic assault charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his case. The Preliminary Hearing was set for 1 p.m. on March 29. A no-contact order was set in place for the protected party. West was released on his own recognizance with the order to turn any firearms over to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office within 48 hours of release.

March 11

Christine Blue of State Center made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated charge, a failure to use head lamps charge and a open container charge. A Public Defender was appointed to handle her cases. The Preliminary Hearing was set for 1 p.m. on March 31. Bond will continue as posted. The Substance Abuse Evaluation has already been completed.

Kimberly Sue Kent, 305 S. 15th Ave., made an initial appearance on a theft, 5th degree charge. She pled guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs.
