Four will go at vacant seat on the city council in November

August 25, 2010
By TAMMY R. LAWSON, TIMES-REPUBLICAN

The City Clerk's office announced Tuesday that four individuals have submitted nomination papers to fill the at-large vacancy on the Marshalltown City Council.

Tim Bradbury, Roger Halleck, Patrick Stansberry and Leon Lamer will all be included on the Nov. 2 ballot.

A petition was received Aug. 16 calling for a special election to fill the position, currently being held by Lamer.

He was appointed Aug. 2 by the council to replace Bill Backoff, who resigned.

There were 211 valid signatures on the petition.

This special election will be held in conjunction with the general election and according to City Clerk Shari Coughenour, it will be at no extra expense to the taxpayers.

Who ever is elected as at-large representative will serve his term until it expires November of next year.
