West Marshall take first step in district title defense

STATE CENTER - Class 2A No. 2 West Marshall hosted its first 2A District 7 tilt Friday night and walked away with a 48-7 win over Gilbert.

Dalton Ferch led the rushing attack for the Trojans with 162 rushing yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns.

The senior all-stater also led the team in receiving with three catches for 52 receiving yard. Tysen Streeter carried four times for 44 yards and two scores. Duncan Ferch had three carries for 49 yards and a touchdown. Dalton Kelley added a 2-yard touchdown reception.

Senior quarterback Braydn Beals was 7-of-11 passing with 81 passing yards and a touchdown. Beals also carried seven times for 30 rushing yards.

Tanner Stalzer led the Trojan defense with six tackles. Dalton Ferch notched an interception and Kyle Blocker had a fumble recovery.

The Trojans will be traveling to Eldora next week to play South Hardin in another district contest.
