Blake Gimbel of Marshalltown has been named the ESPNHS football regional player of the week.
The junior quarterback finished 42-for-62 passing for 567 yards with five touchdowns on Sept. 15 against Sioux City East to receive the Midwest player of the week honor. The 567 yards set a new Iowa high school football single-game record.
Gimbel leads all of Iowa football in completions (128), yards (1,922) and touchdowns (20) going into tonight's play.
The Bobcats take a 4-1 record into their Sept. 30 Homecoming game against Waukee at Leonard Cole Field.
