GRUNDY CENTER - The host Spartans ended Rockford's four-game winning streak as the Grundy Center football team picked up a 32-6 victory on Friday.
Joel Rust finished 11-for-18 passing for 159 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions for the Spartans.
Cody Cole turned his eight rushing attempts to 106 yards and two scores, while Connor Noteboom and Nathan Schmadeke both added 55 rushing yards. Schmadeke finished with four receptions for 66 yards and two scores, while Brett Boren also had a touchdown catch.
Neil Damon had nine total tackles, an interception and fumble recovery. Noteboom also had nine tackles.
The win moves Grundy Center into second place in the district with a 2-1 mark, and the Spartans are 3-3 overall. Rockford drops to 4-3, 2-1.
South Hardin 34, East Marshall 20
LE GRAND - Five different South Hardin players scored a touchdown as the Tigers came away with a Class 2A District 7 win over East Marshall.
Tyler Petersen had a game-high 69 rushing yards and a touchdown for South Hardin (2-4, 1-3). Levi Prosser and Ben Ferris also had rushing touchdowns, while Prosser threw a scoring pass to Dayton Balvanz.
Blake Richie and Petersen both had eight total tackles for the Tigers on the Mustangs' Homecoming, Ferris had an interception and Luke Rotgers returned a fumble for a touchdown.
Josh Wilson finished with four receptions for 119 yards with a 72-yard touchdown catch for East Marshall (0-6, 0-4). Senior Brendan Wanatee accounted for 105 total yards as he was running tough all night. Wanatee rushed for 51 yards and had a 54-yard touchdown reception. Quarterback Walker Steward passed for 214 yards and two TDs and added a 1-yard touchdown run.
Taylor Vibbard led the Mustangs' defense with 16 total tackles. Jay Reisetter had an interception, while Wilson finshed with 12 stops.
East Marshall remains at home next Friday against Roland-Story. South Hardin has its Homecoming next Friday in Eldora against North Polk.
Solon 42, South Tama 20
TAMA - Solon remained undefeated in district play with its win over the Trojans on Friday.
Andy Klouda rushed for two touchdowns for the sixth-ranked Spartans (5-1, 4-0). Jordan Wymer had a kickoff return score.
South Tama (2-4, 1-3) travels to Washington next Friday.
Tri-County 51, Meskwaki 34
MESKWAKI SETTLEMENT - Tri-County pulled into a tie for fourth place in the district with Meskwaki after its 51-34 win over the Warriors on Friday.
Colton Molynenux and Nick Watts both rushed for two touchdowns for the Tri-County (3-4, 2-2), while Levi Ryals caught two scoring strikes from Nick Watts.
Meskwaki (3-4, 2-2) goes to Seymour in Week 7.
