Pair of MHS grads garner all-NSIC honors at SMSU

Marshalltown natives John Kersbergen and Tyler Peschong of Southwest Minnesota State University have received all-league honors on the all-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference football teams.

The senior linebacker Kersbergen and junior quarterback Peschong both were on the all-NSIC South Division second team.

Kersbergen tied for the team lead in tackles with 95 total stops and also had seven tackles for loss, one sack and one interception. His 46 solo tackles were a team-high. Kersbergen was honorable mention all-NSIC South last season.

Peschong was the conference leader in passing yards per game (241.9) and total offense per game (280.4). He finished the season 243-for-419 passing for 2,627 yards and 20 touchdowns to go with 414 rushing yards and seven TDs (tied for the team lead). At the end of the regular season, Peschong stands 17th in Division II in total offense.
