Tom and Jillissa Handorf, of Gladbrook, are the parents of a son, Lincoln Howard Handorf, born at 3:11 p.m. on Jan. 10 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces and measuring 20 inches in length. Welcoming Lincoln home are big brothers Jorell and Maxxon.

Tye Medhaug and Ally Hughes, of Marshalltown, are the parents of son, Roman Anthony Medhaug, born Jan. 17 at 5:06 p.m. at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, weighing 6 pounds, 12 ounces and measuring 19 inches long. Roman joins sister Aaliyah, 4. Grandparents are Sue Coon, Tony Medhaug, Donita Grabau, and Rick Hughes.

Friday

Austin Eric Lowell, 408 N. 3rd St., made an initial appearance on a spitting in a public vehicle charge, a disorderly conduct charge and a simple assault charge. He pleaded guilty to all charges. On all charges he was fined $65 each with a $22.75 surcharge on each and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 on each due immediately. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning Feb. 17 until the debt is completed.

Ding Majok, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle the case. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Feb. 8. Majok was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

Nathan Harned, of Melbourne, made an initial appearance on a aggravated domestic assault charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his case. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 30. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Monday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 211 W. Church St., 402 N. 10th Ave., 507 E. Church St., and 1702 S. 4th St.

Tuesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a passenger vehicle fire at 207 W. Church St., two dispatched/cancelled en route to 106 College Dr., and 306 Summit St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 805 E. South St., 2630 S. 8th St., 907 S. Center St., 1211 W. State St., and 211 W. Church St.

Wednesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a building fire at 407 S. 9th St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 510 Nicholas Dr., 2500 S. Center St., 512 E. Church St., 410 E. Boone St., and 304 Nicholas Dr.

Accidents

On Wednesday a car driven by Vicky Sue Masterson, of Newton, was northbound on Reed Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Masterson car was estimated at $1,500.
