Tuesday

Timothy James Leavy, 1004 S. 5th Ave., made an initial appearance on a operation without registration charge and a driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge. He pleaded guilty to the operation without registration charge and was fined $50 with a $17.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $127.50 due immediately. The driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge was dismissed by the court with court costs of $60 charged due immediately.

Fontae Cole Buelow, of Dubuque, made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330 due immediately.

Donna Lea Bouwers, 105 N. Center St. Apt. #13, made an initial appearance through counsel on a theft, fifth degree charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75 due immediately plus attorney fees.

Jadrienne Gilliland, 1509 Marion St. Apt. E2, made an initial appearance on a theft, fifth degree charge. The court appointed Laura Sopher to represent her in this case. She pleaded not guilty and a Pre-Trial Conference is set for 9 a.m. on Feb. 21.

Denise Catherine Lowell, 607 E. Olive St. Apt. #18, made an initial appearance on a driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge and a no insurance charge. She pleaded guilty on both charges. The fine for both charges was $250 each, with a $87.50 surcharge on each and $60 in court costs for each with a total of $397.50 due immediately for each charge.

Chad Michael Weaver, 1204 W. Main St., made an initial appearance on a speeding charge. He pleaded not guilty and a Pre-Trial Conference is set for 9 a.m. on Feb. 21.

Incidents

On Monday Chiquita Dickerson, 5519 N. 1st St. Apt. #4, reported the theft of a gold tennis bracelet from her residence. Estimated value of loss was $400.

On Sunday a tenant in an apartment owned by Marshalltown Properties, of Iowa City, reported the theft of a central air conditioner unit from 202 1/2 N. 2nd St. Estimated value of loss was $1,361.

Accidents

On Friday a car driven by Martha Vazquez, 5 N. 7th St., was southbound on South Sixth Street stopped at the intersection with West Madison Street when it entered the intersection without seeing an oncoming vehicle driven by Cristian Dubon-Cabrera, 2602 Hilltop Dr., and they collided. No injuries were reported. Vazquez was cited for failure to have a valid driver's license, no insurance and failure to yield upon entering a through highway. Damage to the Vazquez car was estimated at $1,500 while the Dubon-Cabrera vehicle received an estimated $2,500 in damage.

Marshalltown Fire Department

Thursday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a carbon monoxide incident at 1005 Jackson St., and a medical assist with the EMS crew to 1402 S. 12th St.

Friday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two alarm system activation at 1301 Summit St., and 2500 S. Center St., an extrication of victims on West Madison Street, and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 101 Iowa Ave., 2 Columbus Dr., 107 W. Grant St., and 114 N. 1st Ave.

Saturday

The Fire Department responded to a medical assist with the EMS crew to 1206 S. 7th Ave., and an apartment fire at 519 N. 1st St. Apt. #4. The apartment fire created a light amount of smoke in the upstairs hallway and upon arrival found that the smoke emanated from the microwave oven which held a burnt container. There was no fire and ventilating the area by opening the windows solved the smoke issue. No injuries were reported. Damage was confined to the microwave oven and was estimated at $50.

Sunday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a building fire at 108 1/2 W. Main St., and three medical assists with the EMs crew to: 915 W. Merle Hibbs Boulevard, 1406 S. 6th St., and 604 N. 3rd Ave.
