Tuesday

David Douglas Sprague, of Gilman, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred/habitual offender charge, a interference with official acts charge, a assault on a peace officer charge and a failure to have a valid driver's license charge. Sprague will hire Jennifer Meyer to represent him in these cases. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 5. Bond will continue as posted.

Kelley Miglia, 415 N. 11th Ave., made an initial appearance on a dark windows charge. She pleaded not guilty and a Pre-Trial Conference is set for 9 a.m. on March 13. Miglia was released on her own recognizance.

Steven Fisk Wilcox, 713 Noble St., made an initial appearance on a probation revocation charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his case. The file was sent the the District Court for scheduling of a Probation Revocation Hearing as their docket permits. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only.

Jose Mendoza-Garcia, 1012 Bromley St., made an initial appearance through counsel, Barry Kaplan, on a operating while intoxicated, second offense charge and a no driver's license charge. The Preliminary Hearing was waived. Mendoza-Garcia was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that Mendoza-Garcia obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

Incidents

On Monday Jeffrey Knight, 505 Highland Acres Rd., reported the theft of a Alaska Malamute dog from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $2,500.

On Feb. 6, Kelly Williams, of Des Moines, reported the theft of a refrigerator and stove from 207 1/2 N. 14th St. Estimated value of loss was $400.

Citations

On Monday Steven Schaper, of Le Grand, was cited for harassment, first degree.

On Friday a juvenile from Marshalltown was cited for simple assault at Miller Middle School.

Accidents

On Monday a car driven by Estela Rico Garcia, 304 N. 2nd St., was southbound on South 12th Street when, due to icy road conditions, it slid and broad-sided a minivan driven by Jack Wayne Farr, 3202 S. 12th St. Lot #164, which was traveling north on South 12th Street. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Rico Garcia car was estimated at $2,500 while the Farr minivan received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

On Monday a car driven by Raymond Donald Hodges, 1709 Olson Way, and a vehicle driven by Gonzalo Alcantar-Leal, 1012 E. South St., were eastbound on Olive Street and southbound on South Second Avenue, respectively, at the intersection when they entered the intersection at the same time and collided. No injuries were reported. Alcantar-Leal was cited for failure to have a valid driver's license. Damage to the Hodges car was estimated at $1,500 while the Alcantar-Leal vehicle received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

On Monday a vehicle driven by Kayla Marie Hatch, 2626 Smith Ave., was southbound in the 3300 block of South 12th Avenue when it hit a patch of ice, went out of control and struck a tree. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Hatch vehicle was estimated at $2,000.

On Monday a pickup driven by Justin Sease, 511 E. Linn St., was northbound on Highway 14 approaching the intersection with Olive Street when, due to the icy, snow covered roadway, it was unable to stop and slid into a car driven by Alexander Degrado, 505 W. Linn St., which was traveling east on Olive Street and pushed it into a vehicle driven by Kaylin Knox, 1213 W. Main St., which was also traveling east on Olive. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Sease pickup was estimated at $500 while the Degrado car and Knox vehicle both received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

Arrests

On Friday Lisa See, age 26, of Conrad, was arrested at her home for an incident that happened in Grundy Center and was charged with child endangerment. She was released on promise to appear.

On Feb. 8 Audra Samford, age 41, of Manning, was arrested by Hardin County authorities on a Grundy County warrant for failure to appear. She was released on promise to appear.

On Feb. 7 Daniel Leftridge, age 24, of Grundy Center, was arrested for theft, fifth degree. He was released on promise to appear.

On Jan. 30 Eric Thran, age 43, of Grundy Center, was arrested for theft, fifth degree. He pleaded guilty and was released.

On Jan. 30 Jessica Dawson, age 18, of LaPorte City, was arrested for theft, fifth degree. She pleaded guilty and was released.

On Jan. 29, Thomas Dawson, age 43, of Ackley, was arrested for theft, fifth degree. He pleaded guilty and was released.

Accidents

On Saturday a car driven by Brenda Verm, age 43, of Reinbeck, was northbound on Chestnut Street in Reinbeck when it entered an unmarked intersection with Randall Street and collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by Alisha Titcomb, age 35, of Morrison, which was traveling west on Randall Street. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Verm car was estimated at $2,500 while the Titcomb vehicle received an estimated $500 in damage.

On Feb. 2, a vehicle driven by Kayla Benjamin, age 16, of Conrad, was westbound on D-67 west of Highway 14 when it collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by Mallory Vawter, age 15, of Union, which had slowed. No injuries were reported, Benjamin was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Benjamin vehicle was estimated at $4,000 while the Vawter vehicle received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

Arrests

On Friday Shawntale Marie Wood, of Burnside, was arrested on a Marshalltown Police Department warrant for forgery and two counts of theft, second degree.

On Thursday Shaun Michael Gienger, of Gladbrook, was arrested for bond revocation.

On Feb. 3, Tobias Manning Becker, 7 S. 6th Ave., was arrested for two counts of failure to appear.

On Jan. 31, Kang Ruach Yol, 710 S. 12th St. Apt. #1, was arrested on a Marshalltown Police Department warrant charging him with failure to comply with the sex offender registry.

Accidents

On Saturday a pickup driven by Scott Nathan McOmber, 509 Sharon Ave., was southbound on Reed Avenue when it crossed the center line into the northbound lane, over-steered to avoid oncoming vehicle, began to fishtail, slid sideways into the east ditch and rolled a couple of times before coming to a stop. McOmber was transported to Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Damage to the McOmber pickup was estimated at $1,500.
