With wedding season right around the corner, it's time to make those plans for the big day.
The fifth annual Times-Republican Bridal Expo will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Best Western Regency Inn at 3303 S. Center St. in Marshalltown.
Admission is free and the event will feature more than 30 exhibitors that will help brides and their families make the connections needed for their special day.
Exhibitors will have information on facilities, food, flowers, photography, music, dresses and much more. Hundreds of people are expected to attend including more than 100 brides-to-be.
"It's a great place to gather information about the different services that the vendors provide," said Desiree Tacconi, assistant marketing director with the Times-Republican. "The brides get a lot of great ideas and tips and walk way with a lot of goodies from the various booths."
The 2:30 p.m. runway show will again feature offerings from three bridal stores and tuxedos will also be part of the show, which will be a new part this year.
"We wanted to add the tuxedos because we know a lot of the grooms attend," Tacconi said.
The event will include several door prizes including the grand prize of two round trip airline tickets to Las Vegas from Des Moines courtesy of Allegiant.
Tacconi said aside from gathering information for the big day, brides and their families tend to enjoy themselves at the show.
"It's been a great event year after year," Tacconi said. "It's just a lot of fun."
