Marshalltown woman faces drug charges

Police charged a Marshalltown woman Wednesday with bringing contraband into a correctional facility - a Class D felony.

The woman, Tara Spencer, 29, was pulled over when an officer spotted her driving while barred.

Upon a search of Spencer at the jail, police discovered 15 prescription narcotic pills, of two varieties, in a bottle in Spencer's purse. The bottle's prescription label bore the name of a relative, not Spencer's.

Spencer is being held on $5,000 bond.

Citations

On Wednesday a juvenile from Miller Middle School was cited for harassment.

On Wednesday a juvenile from Miller Middle School was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol under the legal age.

On Wednesday Stevan Eugene Deahl, 1111 Jackson St., was cited for theft, fifth degree from Wal-Mart.

Arrests

On Wednesday Patrick Scott Sharp, 308 N. Plaza Heights Rd. Apt. #1, was arrested for theft, fifth degree.

On Wednesday Tara Nichole Spencer, 607 E. Main St., and 407 W. Main St., was arrested for possession of contraband and driving while barred.

On Wednesday James Denver Walker, 305 S. 1st St. Apt. #6, was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Wednesday

James Denver Walker, 111 W. State St. Apt. #4, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication (aggravated) charge and a disorderly conduct charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his cases. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 5. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Tara Spencer, 607 E. Main St., made an initial appearance on a possession of contraband charge, a driving while barred charge, a no registration charge, a no insurance charge and a driving under suspension charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle her cases. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 5. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

Ren Verlyn Corral, of Tama, made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his case. The Probation Revocation Hearing is set for 3 p.m. on March 21. Corral was released on his own recognizance.

La Shauwn Scates, 9 E. Grant St. Apt. #3, made an initial appearance on a possession of a Schedule I Controlled substance (marijuana) charge and a open container charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his cases. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on March 13. Bond will continue as posted. The court ordered that Scates obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

Monday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good intent call at 706 E. Anson St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 202 N. 2nd Ave., 9 S. 7th St., 134 E. Main St., 514 E. Olive St., 712 Noble St.

Tuesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 915 W. Merle Hibbs Boulevard, 309 W. State St., 107 E. Lincoln St., and 1607 Norris Place.

Wednesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to 112 College Dr., and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 202 N. 2nd Ave., and 1014 S. 10th Ave.

Thursday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two medical assists with the EMS crew to 1014 S. 10th Ave., and 1301 Summit St.
