Local woman charged with assault
A Marshalltown woman is charged with aggravated domestic assault for allegedly pummeling her live-in boyfriend with an 18-inch wooden bat.
Capt. Mike Hanken of the Marshalltown Police Department said the woman, Roxann Romig, 48, became agitated when the man made some off color remarks during an argument. Romig then allegedly lashed out with the diminutive bat beating her boyfriend in the head and leg for the comment.
Romig is charged with an aggravated misdemeanor, and the judge has also issued a no contact order, Hanken said. She will be allowed one visit to the couple's home on the 100 block of North Center Street to retrieve her personal effects.
Romig made her initial appearance Wednesday morning for the Tuesday-evening incident and is being held on $2,000 cash or surety bond.
The boyfriend suffered only minor injuries.
