Three arrested for stealing diapers, TV

Police arrested three Marshalltown residents Saturday afternoon for stealing items from Walmart.

Mario Castellanos, 23, and Rachel Berrones, 24, were wanted for allegedly stealing a $1,100 TV back on March 10.

The duo were purchasing a futon from Walmart with Danny Huffman, 45, when Walmart employees recognized them and called police, said Capt. Brian Batterson of the Marshalltown Police Department.

Police pulled over the trio while they were leaving the store. Huffman is accused of stealing $86 worth of diapers. He is charged with third-degree theft, an enhanced charge because of prior theft convictions and is wanted in Linn County on a warrant, Batterson said.

Castellanos and Berrones were arrested and charged with second-degree theft, a Class D felony. Castellanos is also charged with violating a no-contact order on Berrones.

The two are being held on $5,000 bond.
