HUDSON - The Marshalltown boys' soccer team finished the day with a 3-1 record and used a shootout victory over Webster City to finish third at the Hudson tournament on Saturday.
Marshalltown (5-2) defeated Gladbrook-Reinbeck, 3-0, and Independence, 7-0, to start the day, before falling to Knoxville, 2-0.
In the third-place matchup, the Bobcats struck first with Austin Lovin's goal and the assist going to Tony Ordaz Zambrano. Webster City knotted the score late in the second half on a penalty kick.
In the shootout, Kreighton Miller had a pair of saves for MHS, while each Martin Chavarria, Luis Nunez and Cristian Lugo converted on their attempts for the Bobcats.
Ordaz Zambrano had two goals in the win over Class 1A No. 16 Gladbrook-Reinbeck. Chavarria added a score and Lugo had two assists.
Miller stopped eight shots, including a penalty shot.
Chavarria tallied three goals against Independence. Mi Reh had two scores and one apiece for Luis Nunez and Victor Cisneros.
Lugo again had two assists, while Agustin Ortiz, Agustin Tellez, Chavarria, Reh and Ordaz Zambrano each added an assist.
The Bobcats host Des Moines Lincoln on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Leonard Cole Field and follow with a trip to South Tama on Tuesday.
