The Marshalltown RAGBRAI Committee is seeking individuals in the community who would like to get involved by volunteering during the ride's overnight stay or by hosting riders. According to committee co-chair Erick Eggers there are many different ways for an individual to help. "We are looking for people who want to volunteer on one of many different committees as well as people and families who are willing to host registered riders at their homes or in their yards," Eggers said, "I think this is a great opportunity to showcase what Marshalltown has to offer as a community for the riders and the support teams that will be staying." RAGBRAI will begin assigning housing to riders on May 1.
The Volunteer and Housing Committees are also seeking individuals who are willing to contribute in the areas of hospitality, campgrounds, information center, food service, public safety, sanitation and more. "Hosting RAGBRAI for an overnight stay allows Marshalltown a unique opportunity to showcase our community and what it has to offer, however, it does also requires a great deal work," according co-chair Allison Vaughn. "In order for our event and Marshalltown to succeed we need the help of the community and the people that live in it," Vaughn added.
