Locals to recognize Day of Prayer

April 22, 2012
Vonna Hayes, Marshalltown , Times-Republican

I would like to share a few words about a very important day for our city, state and nation - that date is May 3, the National Day of Prayer.

As one of six that serves on the National Day of Prayer Task Force for Marshalltown, I want to invite you to this opportunity that will be open to the public as we pray for our city, state and nation.

God is moving and if we allow him the room, he will bring the answers we long for. If we lay down our own ways and humble ourselves before him, he will bless and provide the peace and prosperity that he promised in Jeremiah 29:7-11: "Seek the peace and prosperity of the city; pray to the Lord for it; because if it prospers, you too will prosper. For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord; plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you a hope and a future."

It cannot get any clearer than this folks. He longs to pour out his blessings to us, but we need to seek him and turn from the way we are walking, acting, believing and living. We are being called to exchange our way for his way and receive a blessing we cannot even contain or imagine.

From our national, state and city leaders/officials; our schools, businesses, families, racial differences and yes, even our churches, we need God in the midst of it all.

We are asking you - inviting you to come and join us for something that will bring a freshness and a hope; because God does not/will not disappoint. The event will be held from 7 to 8:30 a.m. on May 3 at The Cultural Center (Old YMCA building) in Marshalltown.

Come be a part of this national opportunity.
