Derrick Terrell Morris, 533 N. 3rd St. Apt. E, made an initial appearance on a driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge, a no insurance charge, a open container charge and a operation without registration charge. He pleaded guilty to all charges. On the driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge the fine was $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 due immediately. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning May 21 until the debt is completed or in lieu of the fine and surcharge Morris may do 46 hours of community service plus pay the court costs to be completed by Oct. 31. The fine on the no insurance charge was $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 due immediately. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning May 21 until the debt is completed. On the open container charge the fine was $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330 due immediately. The same monthly payment structure was allowed for this charge beginning May 21. The fine on the operation without registration charge was $50 with a $17.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $127.50 due immediately. The court allowed the same monthly installment plan as above.

Jose Echegoyen Romero, c/o House of Compassion, made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for arraignment/operating while intoxicated charge. The court appointed Abigail Hillers to represent him in this matter. Arraignment is rescheduled for 1 p.m. on May 3. Bond is set at $1,000 cash only.

Ashin Janita, 402 N. 2nd St., made an initial appearance on a harassment, first degree charge and a serious domestic assault charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his cases. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on May 4. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Erica Bushinger, 1308 Woodbury St., made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The Probation Revocation Hearing is set for 2 p.m. on June 6. Bond will continue as posted.

David Wood, 713 Union St., made an initial appearance on a curfew violation charge. He pleaded not guilty and a Pre-Trial Conference is set for 1 p.m. on May 29. Wood was released on his own recognizance.

Brynn Price, 508 N. 2nd St., made an initial appearance on a theft, third degree charge and a false reporting charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle her cases. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on May 14. Price was released through the Department of Correctional Services and is to contact them within 48 hours.

Arrests

On Tuesday, Jerry Lynn Robovsky, 522 N. 15th St., was arrested for serious domestic assault.

On Tuesday, Lavotius Ross, 407 W. Main St. Apt. #302, was arrested for driving while barred.

On Tuesday, Derrick Terrell Morris, 533 N. 3rd St. Apt. E, was arrested for driving under suspension, open container, no insurance and operation without registration.

On Saturday, Ashin Janita, 7 1/2 N. 9th St., was arrested for harassment, first degree and serious domestic assault.

On April 7, Michelle Price, 508 N. 2nd St., was arrested for false reporting and theft, third degree from Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Accidents

On Tuesday, a car driven by Lauren Michelle Marts, of Grundy Center, was eastbound in the Fareway Grocery Store parking lot when it made a gradual left turn and proceeded north towards the exit at West Anson Street and, due to the blind spot on her car, struck a fixed light pole owned by Fareway. Marts was possibly injured, but not treated at the scene or transported. Damage to the Marts car was estimated at $3,000.
