I just returned home early this morning from my participation in the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight. The whole experience was beyond what I had expected. We were treated with such respect, saw many wonderful monuments in Washington D.C. and were fussed over everywhere we went.
But the send off from Marshalltown was priceless. The parade route was filled with hundreds and hundreds of people waving flags, holding up signs and with even small children saluting.
I had tears in my eyes the whole parade and turned to my daughter and said, "I feel like a King!" Thank you, people of Marshalltown; my cup runneth over. Please send me the bill.
