On Wednesday, a staffer at Franklin Elementary School, 1315 W. Main St., reported the theft of a snowblower. Estimated value of loss was $1,600.
On Wednesday, an employee with Southard Implement, 3006 S. Center St., reported locating a propane tank with a torch attached in amongst the farm equipment that was not the property of Southards. Estimated value of find was $100.
On April 27, a person reported the theft of an athletic bag containing miscellaneous items valued at $583.25 from 1600 S. 2nd Ave.

On Sunday, April 29, Steven Eugene Hunt, of Altoona, was arrested for failure to appear in a domestic abuse case.
Accidents
On Wednesday, a vehicle driven by Daniel Martin Quigley, of Tama, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the travelled portion of the roadway and came to rest on the south shoulder. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Quigley vehicle was estimated at $1,500.

Max Nelson Jr., 111 N. 5th Ave., made an initial appearance on two counts of a delivery of a Schedule II Controlled substance (meth) charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his cases. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on May 14. Bond is set at $100,000 cash or surety.
Zing Hnem Sung, 312 N. 1st Ave. Apt. #3, made an initial appearance on a failure to obey a stop or yield sign charge. She pleaded not guilty and a Pre-Trial Conference is set for 9 a.m. on June 5. Sung was released on her own recognizance.
Tha Sen, 629 Lincoln St., made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his case. The Contempt Hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on May 18. Sen was released on his own recognizance. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.
