When describing the character traits that Lenihan Intermediate School teacher Julee Swanson would attribute to student Nayeli Barajas, the instructor can go on and on.
Swanson said the sixth grader shows integrity, honesty and respect, among many other traits.
"She personifies character traits that all people should strive to demonstrate throughout their daily lives," Swanson said. "She's quite a role model."

Barajas, 12, said her mom, Maria Barajas, has supported her to be a diligent student and to respect others. School is something the student finds very enjoyable.
"I enjoy it here and I like learning here," Barajas said.
Swanson said at times she is in awe of the way Barajas respects everyone she comes in contact with and her maturity level at such a young age.
