Arrests

On Monday, Adam Sharkey, age 45, of Waterloo, was arrested in Grundy Center on a Black Hawk County warrant charging him with flight to avoid/voluntary absence. He was released to the Black Hawk County authorities.

On May 1, Diane Loftus, age 37, of Morrison, was arrested in Morrison for domestic abuse assault. She was released on promise to appear.

On April 26, Frederick Oscars Jr., age 55, of Waterloo, was arrested by Black Hawk County authorities on a Grundy County warrant charging him with contempt of court. He posted bond and was released.

Accidents

On Sunday, a car driven by Milon Thatcher, age 18, of Liscomb, was westbound on D-67 at the intersection with C Avenue when it crossed the center line and entered the south ditch where it struck a culvert. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Thatcher car was estimated at $4,329.

On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Joshua Heath, age 22, of Ackley, was eastbound on Westbrook approaching the intersection with Highway 14 when it went through the stop sign and collided with a car driven by Ronald Barth, age 76, of Marshalltown, which was traveling north on Highway 14. No injuries were reported. Heath was cited for failure to obey a stop or yield sign. Damage to the Heath vehicle was estimated at $1,000 while the Barth car received an estimated $4,000 in damage.

On May 8, a car driven by Harry Martin, age 64, of Clive, was westbound on Highway 20 when it struck a deer that entered the travel portion of the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Martin car was estimated at $3,000.

On May 8, a vehicle driven by Collin Widdel, age 18, of Reinbeck, was backing out of a private driveway in an alley when it collided with a truck driven by Marilyn Klinghammer, age 53, of Reinbeck, which was westbound down the alley between the 600 block of Main and Clark Streets. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Widdel vehicle was estimated at $1,000 while the Klinghammer truck received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On May 6, a vehicle driven by Nadine Shepard-Kramer, age 48, of Ames, was westbound on Highway 20 when it struck a deer that had entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Shepard-Kramer vehicle was estimated at $5,000.

On May 6, a vehicle driven by Brian Bowles, age 21, of Adel, was westbound on Highway 20 when it struck a deer that entered the travel portion of the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Bowles vehicle was estimated at $1,500.

On April 25, a car driven by Alexander Crosley, age 16, of Holland, was eastbound on D-35 and turned south onto T-37 when it went out of control going too fast around the corner, hit the shoulder and rolled onto its top in the west ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Crosley car was estimated at $1,500.

Incidents

On Tuesday, Charity Dawn Carmer, 105 S. 5th St. (Upper), reported the theft of a Kenwood AM/FM/CD car stereo from a 1989 GMC Sierra pickup while parked at her residence. Estimated value of loss was $200.

On Tuesday, an employee with the General Store, 116 E. Church St., reported the theft of a Taurus pistol from the store. Estimated value of loss was $300.

On Monday, an employee with US Cellular, 2500 S. Center St., reported the theft of a Huawei Android cell phone belonging to a customer while at work at Swifts, 402 N. 10th Ave. Estimated value of loss was $300.

On Monday, a person associated with Jcats Inc. Storage, 1314 Jackson St., reported the theft of a Swann security camera. Estimated value of loss was $100.

Citations

On Tuesday, Scott Allen Groff, 408 N. 4th Ave., was cited for unlawful possession of prescription drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Tuesday, Erica Dawn Levesque, of Tama, was cited for theft, fifth degree from Walmart.

On Tuesday, Meesha Maria Spencer, of Tama, was cited for theft, fifth degree from Walmart.

On Tuesday, Kayla Marie Evans, of Tama, was cited for theft, fifth degree from Walmart.

On Monday, Anita Larae Greenfield, of Des Moines, was cited for theft, fifth degree from Walmart.

Wednesday

Nathan McGrane, of Dows, made an initial appearance on a simples domestic assault charge. The court appointed Jeffrey Hazen to represent him in this case. He pleaded not guilty and a Pre-Trial Conference is set for 9 a.m. on June 26. McGrane was released on his own recognizance. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Makaylee Ranae Steggall, 110 E. Olive St., made an initial appearance on a social host charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 due immediately.

Tasia Lasea Fricke-Michel, 110 E. Olive St., made an initial appearance on a social host charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 due immediately.

Joseph Kohl Miller, 706 NewCastle Rd., made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 due immediately. The bond was condemned to pay the fine with the balance being returned to Miller.

Scott Groff, 408 N. 4th Ave., made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a no insurance charge, a registration charge, an unlawful possession of prescription drugs charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his cases. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on June 4. Groff was released on his own recognizance.

Incidents

On Friday, Alyssa Jane Whitmore, of Le Grand, reported damage to the driver side door on a vehicle while parked at 201 Franklin St., Le Grand. Estimated value of damage was $517.

On May 9, John Paul Wiese, of Rhodes, reported damage to a padlock on a storage shed at 3024 Durham Ave., Rhodes, and the theft of a Craftsman tool box with a miscellaneous assortment of tools. Estimated value of loss was $230.

Arrests

On Saturday, Jose Luis Gomez, 108 S. 5th St., was arrested for drunkenness.

On May 9, Russell Gentry Jr., 112 N. 3rd St., was arrested for domestic abuse assault.

On May 9, Bradley Ryan Bennett, of Urbandale, was arrested for contempt.

Accidents

On Monday, a pickup driven by Jared Bruce Denny, 2513 160th St., was southbound on Highway 14 when it slowed, started a left turn onto 160th Street and collided head-on with a car driven by Brandon Jay Schleisman, of Conrad, which was traveling north on Highway 14. Schleisman was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Denny was cited for failure to yield upon left turn and failure to have a valid driver's license. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000 each.

On Friday, a pickup driven by David Lee Cobb, 704 E. High St., was northbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the travelled portion of the roadway causing extensive damage to the front of the vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Cobb pickup was estimated at $4,500.
