Poppy Days a success

May 24, 2012
Delores Popp, Marshalltown , Times-Republican

Poppy Days were a success due to the generosity of people of Marshalltown and surrounding areas. It takes community support to make this happen. American Legion Auxiliary Unit #46 appreciated the courtesy of Walmart, Fareway and Hy-Vee who allowed our volunteers from the American Legion, Auxiliary & Sons of American Legion to accept donations at the entrances of their stores. A special thank you is in order for all the faithful volunteers who again donated their time.

A Poppy Window was decorated at the Marshall Town Center which will be on display through Memorial Day. Arlene Kremer and her helpers appreciated all the assistance from the staff of the mall.

The poppies are made by the Veterans at the Iowa Veterans Home and we appreciate the dedication of the poppy makers and staff for providing poppies, not only for our unit, but many other units throughout the state of Iowa.

Monies received from the Poppy distribution are used entirely for veterans programs. Our veterans are remembered - not forgotten.
