June 4

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an unauthorized burning at 710 E. Boone St., and seven medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1707 S. 17th Ave., 708 E. Anson St., 3120 S. 2nd St., 915 W. Merle Hibbs Boulevard, 202 N. 2nd Ave., 601 E. Church St., and 206 Nicholas Dr.

June 5

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an unauthorized burning at 812 W. Nevada St., a dispatched/cancelled en route to 3700 S. 18th Ave., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1211 Marshall Dr., 1201 S. 4th St., 112 N. 3rd St., and 811 S. 6th St.

June 6

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a combustible/flammable gas or liquid condition at 408 S. 3rd St., an alarm system activation/no fire/unintentional at 7 N. 7th Ave., and three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1805 S. 3rd St., 303 S. 17th Ave., and 405 W. Church St.

Accidents

On May 30, a vehicle driven by Amber Sue Grantz, of Melbourne, was northbound on Gerhart Avenue when it went out of control on the gravel, skidded across the roadway and entered the east ditch where it rolled before coming to a stop. Passengers Breeanna Grantz and Bradlee Grantz, both of Melbourne, were transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with injuries. Grantz was cited for operating while intoxicated and two counts of child endangerment. Damage to the Grantz vehicle was estimated at $10,000.

On May 28, a car driven by Jerri Ann Lavender, 710 1/2 E. State St., was northbound on Oaks Avenue when it went out of control on the gravel, hit the embankment of the west ditch head-on and spun around before coming to a stop and the driver and passenger leaving the scene. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Lavender car was estimated at $5,000.
