Manuel Ordaz, 3 N. 8th Ave., made an initial appearance on a failure to have a valid driver's license or permit charge and a no insurance charge. He pleaded guilty to the failure to have a valid driver's license charge and was fined $200 with a $70 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $335 due immediately. The no insurance charge was dropped upon proof of insurance with court costs of $60 assessed due immediately.

Richard Wayne Samora, 809 W. Nevada St., made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a failure to obey a stop or yield sign charge and a no insurance charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on July 19. Samora was released on his own recognizance.

Josefina Lopez Gonzalez, of Montour, made an initial appearance on a driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge. The case was dismissed upon proof from the Iowa Department of Transportation and court costs were waived.

Malinda Sue Lutes, 2467 Jefferson Dr., Wolf Lake, made an initial appearance on a dog-at-large charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $25 with a $8.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $99.75 due immediately.

Melissa Rose Harris, 424 Union St., made an initial appearance on a theft, fifth degree charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75 plus restitution if applicable, due immediately.

Gustavo Gonzalez Pina, 205 S. 3rd St., made an initial appearance through an interpreter on a failure to have a valid driver's license charge and a failure to yield upon entering a through highway charge. He pleaded guilty to both charges. On the failure to have a valid driver's license charge the fine was $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330 due immediately. The fine on the failure to yield upon entering a through highway charge was $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195 due immediately.

Marissa Ann McStockard, 424 Union St. made an initial appearance on a theft, fifth degree charge and a trespass charge. She pleaded guilty to both charges. On the theft, fifth degree charge she was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75 plus restitution if applicable, due immediately. The fine on the trespass charge was $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75 due immediately.

Gustaf Carlson, of Melbourne, made an initial appearance on a serious domestic assault charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on July 9. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Jose Garcia, 502 W. Nevada St., made an initial appearance on a interference with official acts charge and a trespass charge. He pleaded not guilty to the trespass charge, and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on July 24. Garcia was released on his own recognizance. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party. On the interference with official acts charge he pleaded guilty and was fined $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 due immediately. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning July 27 until the debt is completed.

Michael Gene Chaplin, 1956 Vine Ave., made an initial appearance on a failure to obey a traffic control device charge and a no insurance charge. He pleaded guilty to the failure to obey a traffic control device charge and was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $5 county enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $200 due immediately. Per the instructions of the assistant county attorney the no insurance charge was dismissed with court costs of $60 assessed, due immediately.

Yohni Villa, 305 N. 12th Ave., made an initial appearance on a passing too near a bridge, intersection or railroad crossing charge, a driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge and a no insurance charge. He pleaded guilty to the passing too near a bridge, intersection or railroad crossing charge and was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195 due immediately. Per the assistant county attorney's instructions the other two charges were dismissed with court costs of $60 on both counts for a total of $120 assessed, due immediately.

Incidents

On Thursday, Ashley Thomas, 1509 Marion St. Apt. A3, reported the theft of a Mira 20- inch, boy's bicycle from her residence. Estimated value of loss was $150.

On Thursday, an employee with Independent Auto, 717 S. 3rd Ave., reported the theft of a homemade trailer from the business. Estimated value of loss was $500.

Arrests

On Thursday, Jose A. Garcia, 205 W. Nevada St., was arrested for trespass and interference with official acts.

On Wednesday, June 27, Jessie Lamar Newman, 502 E. Main St. Apt, #1, was arrested for serious domestic assault.

Accidents

On Wednesday, a vehicle driven by David Anderson, of Oswego, Ill., was exiting Highway 30 westbound at exit #186 when it struck a deer that entered the traveled portion of the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Anderson vehicle was estimated at $3,000.
