Tom Clemons' letter "Property owners would appreciate spending restraint" is right on target.
The city is killing us each year with increased property taxes. Why do they do it? Because they can! Salaries for city employees as well as other expenses have gotten well out of hand and our city fathers think they can merely increase our taxes year after year to cover their deficits. Seniors on a fixed income are struggling to make ends meet. It's time we put a cap on property taxes for seniors age 62 and over, like some states do.
