Julian Mendoza, of Alamo, Texas, made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for arraignment on a operating while intoxicated charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The arraignment hearing is set for 1 p.m. Aug. 21. Bond is set at $1,000 cash only.

Incidents
On Aug. 3, Deane Richard Adams, 509 Thunderbird Drive, reported the theft of a John Deere 2010 utility tractor, a Schumacher B. charger and electric air compressor from 1215 Newby Ave., Liscomb. Estimated value of loss was $6,210.
Arrests
On Monday, Andrew Michael Schooley, of Gilman, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
On July 22, Gerald Robert Sanache, of Tama, was arrested for driving under the influence and driving under suspension.
Accidents
On Aug. 3, a car driven by Wade Christopher Slaughter, of Union, was headed west/northwest on Summit Street Road when it went out of control, entered the north ditch, struck a steel utility pole owned by ITC, of Perry, and, after rolling at least once, continued into a bean field which was managed by Hertz Farm Management, of Nevada. Slaughter was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with injuries. Damage to the Slaughter car was estimated at $3,500 while the utility pole received an estimated $20,000 in damage and the bean field an estimated $1,000 in damage.
