Dayton Sabasta, homeless, made an initial appearance on a kidnapping/second degree charge, a theft/first degree charge, a burglary/third degree charge and a interference with official acts charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 24. Bond is set at $25,000 cash only. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Shaun Gienger, of Gladbrook, made an initial appearance on a felony eluding charge, a operation without owner's consent charge, a possession of a Schedule II controlled substance/meth charge, three counts of a failure to obey a stop or yield sign charge, a driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge, two counts of a speeding charge, a reckless driving charge and five counts of a driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 24. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. The court ordered that Gienger obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of release from custody.

Kate Tremmel, of Kellogg, made an initial appearance on a operation without owner's consent charge, a possession of a Schedule II controlled substance/meth charge and a possession of prescription drugs charge. The court ordered that she obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of release from custody.

Tobias Becker, 7 S. 6th Ave., made an initial appearance on a obstruction of emergency communications charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due immediately. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning Sept. 14 until the debt is completed or in lieu of the fine and surcharge Becker may do 12 hours of community service plus pay court costs to be completed by Dec. 15.

Antonio Villa, 7 S. 7th Ave., made an initial appearance on a assault causing bodily injury charge and a possession of a Schedule I Controlled substance/marijuana charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 4. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party. The court ordered that Villa obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

Raymundo Flores, 502 N. 12th Ave. Apt. #11, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a no insurance charge and a failure to dim lights charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 4. Flores was released on his own recognizance.

On Monday, Casey James Thurston, of Garwin, was arrested for driving while barred, driving under suspension and improper registration plate lamp.

On Aug. 10, Scott Demarco Newman, 906 W. State St., was arrested for violation of probation.

On Aug. 10, Dennis Duane Jackley, of Beaman, was arrested for failure to file arraignment on a operating while intoxicated/third offense charge.

On Aug. 10, Jaylen Cecilia Sharee Padilla, 202 S. 2nd Ave., was arrested for serious domestic assault and simple domestic assault.

Citations

On Monday, Wol Reec Wol, 308 E. Boone St., was cited for open container.

On Aug. 10, Diego Nunez-Flores, 512 N. 14th Ave., was cited for theft, fifth degree from Kum & Go on East Main Street.

On Wednesday, Michael Allen Glenn, 506 S. 5th St., was cited for dogs at large.

Incidents

On Wednesday, an employee with Hogeland Auto Body, 1408 E. Main St., reported the theft of a Snap On 18 volt reciprocating saw with three grinders, a Chicago pneumatic saw and a East Wing square head hammer from the business. Estimated value of loss was $825.

On Tuesday, Kevin Duncan, 1503 S. 4th St., reported the theft of a man's wallet, a ladies purse and a Dell laptop computer from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $3,120.

Arrests

On Wednesday,Tobias Becker, 7 S. 6th Ave., was arrested for obstruction of emergency communications.

On Tuesday, Shonna Marie Jenkins, 1601 Marion St. Apt. L1, was arrested for serious domestic assault.

Monday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 805 S. 12th St., 308 Thomas Dr., and 401 N. 1st St.

Tuesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an electrical wiring/equipment problem on Linn Street, a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Center Street and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 4 N. 16th St., and 2802 S. Center St.

Thursday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 3200 S. Center St., 101 NewCastle Rd., and 1308 E. Madison St.
