Actress Ashley Judd will be making a public stop in Marshalltown Friday as part of an RV tour across the state supporting President Barack Obama's re-election campaign.
Judd will be at the Obama for America office at 26 E. Main St. at 5 p.m. Friday. The campaign staff said she will greet visitors and make brief remarks.
The local Democratic Party leader appears excited for Judd's appearance, which is part of what the campaign is calling "Heartland Tour 2012: Moving the Middle Class Forward."
"It shows me that Marshall County and our area appears to be pretty important to the campaign," said Kay Gill, chair of the Marshall County Democrats. "They know that there's support here. I'm thrilled that they are going to have her come up here."
Judd comes from a country singing family, but has made a name for herself in film and television work. She's also not one to shy away from standing up for a cause she believes in. She plans to support Obama at the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.
The RV tour is going on this week and also includes former Iowa Gov. Chet Culver and former Lt. Gov. Patty Judge at other stops in the state.
