Yordan Rosario Villegas, 312 S. 14th Ave., made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 17.

Kenny Tyrone Claytor Jr., 406 Melody Lane Apt. #3, made an initial appearance on a parole revocation charge. The court appointed Darrell Meyer to handle this case before the court. The parole revocation hearing will be scheduled by the Department of Correctional Services as their calendar permits. No bond was allowed in this case.

Nick Eugene Vangorp, of Grinnell, made an initial appearance on a no insurance charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $500 with a $175 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $735, due immediately. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning Sept. 25 until the debt is paid.

Jeremy Patrick Morris, of Conrad, made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated/first offense charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 17. The court ordered that Morris obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

Russell Wayne Mehlow, of Albion, made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 11:15 a.m. on Sept. 19. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

Eric Michael Seymour, 207 E. High St., made an initial appearance on a burglary, third degree charge and a possession of burglary tools charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 17. Bond will continue as posted. The court ordered that Seymour contact the Department of Correctional Services immediately.

Patrick Sharp, c/o Marshall County Jail, made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The court appointed Laura Sopher to represent him in this case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 3:45 p.m. on Aug. 29. Bond is set at $7,000 total cash only.

Victoriae Steddom, 308 Sugar Plum Place, made an initial appearance on a simple domestic assault charge. She will retain her own counsel. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Sept. 25. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Wednesday

Derek Slocum, of Tama, made an initial appearance on a failure to comply with the sex offender registry charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 17. Bond will continue as posted.

Tonyika Lewis, 504 Lee St., made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated/first offense charge, a no driver's license charge and a violating one-way traffic designation charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 17. Bond will continue as posted. The court ordered that she go to the Police Department and get fingerprinted and photographed by Aug. 30. Furthermore the court ordered Lewis to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

On Saturday, Mike Schlesinger, 606 Westwood Dr., reported the theft of white gold diamond earrings, miscellaneous jewelry, a Microsoft Xbox game system, an Xbox 360 game system, a Xbox Kinect, 12 bottles of wine, a Samsung Blu Ray DVD player, six Xbox games, white gold teardrop earrings, an 18 inch heart pendant necklace, an 18 inch pearl drop pendant necklace, a gold heart bracelet, a diamond bracelet, an antique gold ring, a gold cross necklace, a gold bracelet, Sterling silver hoop earrings and matching necklace, Sterling silver 18 inch necklace, Sterling silver triple strand necklace, Lia Sophia Java necklace, a coral colored glass pendant necklace, a diamond chip watch, a Sterling silver watch, a yellow quartz pendant, a Sterling silver turquoise glass pendant, a P.E.O. pin with diamond chip, a gold bracelet with diamonds, Skype camera, two iPods, a Citizen men's watch, a Rolex watch, a Rotary president's pin with diamond, two Monster HDMI cables, a Johnny Carson "Best of Carson Collection" DVD set, iPod docking station and cash from his residence. Arrests

On Saturday, Danny Triplett, 511 W. State St. Apt. #5, was arrested for public intoxication.

Accidents

On Wednesday, a Chrysler 300 driven by an as yet unknown driver was southbound on 20th Street when it went past the dead end sign, down a steep embankment and into a shallow creek. Witnesses saw two males running from the abandoned vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Chrysler 300 was estimated at $10,000 while landscaping in the area received an estimated $200 in damage.

On Aug. 22, Shaun Michael Gienger, 10 W. Lincoln St., and the Halfway House, was arrested for pre-trial violation.

On Aug. 22, Erin Lynn Robinson, 1001 W. Iowa Ave. #14, was arrested for probation violation.

On Aug. 20, Darin Christian Lewis, of Waterloo, was arrested for failure to serve jail time.
