CRESTON - The Marshalltown Community College volleyball team notched its first win of the season with a four-set triumph over ICCAC foe Southwestern in a non-conference match Wednesday night.
The Tigers (1-4) rallied from a first-game setback to sweep the next three, topping the Spartans 16-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-22.
Mady Van Metre led MCC with 21 kills on the night, while Katelyn Yauslin chipped in 10 kills. Setter Tanya Literski totaled 36 assists in the match and also posted a team-best three blocks.
Ashley Salgado paced the Tigers with 21 digs and added five service aces.
Marshalltown takes more than a week off to prepare for the Central CC Tournament on Sept. 7-8 in Columbus, Neb.
