ROLLA, Mo. - The Missouri S&T football team kicks off a new season with Saturday night's home opener against Oklahoma Panhandle State University at 6:30 p.m. at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
Jon Vance, a 2010 Marshalltown High School graduate and former all-state linebacker, sits atop the Miners' depth chart as the starting long-snapper for Saturday's opener.
The 5-foot-9, 210-pound linebacker finished the 2011 season at Missouri S&T with 20 tackles, 12 of which were solo stops, to go along with four quarterback sacks. Vance also blocked a punt as a key contributor to the Miners' special teams.
Missouri S&T, an NCAA Division II program, went 6-5 last season including a 34-23 season-opening victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State.
