JEFFERSON - Four medalists helped the West Marshall boys' cross country team to a runner-up finish at the Greene County Invite on Thursday night.
The Trojans trailed Class 1A No. 7-ranked Guthrie Center by just 13 points, 40-53, in the race for the Class A team title.
West Marshall's Nathan Bradley won his second straight meet medalist honors, clocking in at 17 minutes, 31 seconds.
Austin McCool came in sixth (19:07), Cole White was seventh (19:13) and Adam Sodders 16th (20:04) to lead the Trojan charge. Nate Byerle rounded out the scoring five with 20:23 for 23rd place, and Hunter Wilkening was 24th in 20:30.
Colo-NESCO's boys banked fifth as a team with 152 points, led by freshmen Jordan Combes in 13th (19:50) and Steven Cutler in 15th (20:04). Tait Vaughn came in 25th in 20:33) for the Royals.
Victoria Pothast finished fourth in 16:50 in helping the West Marshall girls to a seventh-place team finish.
Shelby Dailey came in 19th (18:41) for the Colo-NESCO girls, who did not score as a team. Taylor Brown was 41st (20:29).
South Hamilton (55) edged CMB (57) in the Class A girls' team race.
Rachel Knights clocked 19:51 in 36th for West Marshall, and Ashley Pfantz picked up 44th in 20:37. Carly Kielman was 56th (21:35) and Kalie Weuve 67th (23:15).
West Marshall joins a host of area schools at South Tama's invitational meet Monday at Otter Creek Lake near Toledo.
