MCC volleyball finishes 1-3 weekend at Central

COLUMBUS, Neb. - Mady Van Metre had 25 kills in two matches Saturday but it was not enough to lead the Marshalltown Community College to wins in the Central CC Tournament.

The Tigers (2-7) lost in straight sets to NJCAA Division I No. 2 Iowa Western and then fell to host Central Community College on the second day of the tournament.

Iowa Western beat MCC 25-13, 25-12, 25-15. Van Metre led the Tigers with nine kills and two ace serves. Ashley Salgado finished with 12 digs, while Tanya Literski had 19 assists.

Central Community College beat the Tigers 25-14, 25-9, 25-16. Van Metre had 16 kills in this loss, while Salgado finished with a team-high 20 digs. Literski also contributed 22 assists.

The Tigers will next play Tuesday against Kirkwood in the home opener. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
