AFTON - Brandyn Niemeyer ran for 199 yards and three touchdowns, threw for 64 yards and a score, and returned a punt 67 yards for another TD as the Colo-NESCO football team collected its third straight win, a 58-30 triumph over East Union (1-4, 0-2) in 8-man District 6 action late Friday.
Niemeyer had touchdown runs of 62, 26 and 73 yards and came up just shy of 200 rushing yards on only seven carries. He completed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Adam Lytle and Lytle added a 12-yard touchdown run as the Royals ran out to a 58-6 lead at the half.
On defense, Niemeyer made three interceptions and a team-high 10 tackles, and Tyler Erickson recovered a fumble for the Royals (3-2, 2-1).
Lytle finished with 113 rushing yards for Colo-NESCO, which plays host to Lamoni (4-1, 1-1) next Friday night.
North Tama 56, Iowa Valley 0
TRAER - Senior quarterback Jacob Wrage had 261 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns as the eighth-ranked Redhawks rolled Iowa Valley, 56-0, in Class A District 4 play.
Wrage rushed six times for 118 yards and two touchdowns, and was 8-for-9 passing for 143 yards and TD strikes to Damon Spencer and Jacob Watson.
Dalton Hulme led the Redhawks (4-1, 2-0) with 136 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries. Watson had three grabs for 60 yards to lead North Tama.
Nolan Hefty had a team-high nine tackles and Paul Kaufmann returned an interception 41 yards against Iowa Valley (3-2, 0-2).
North Tama travels to face BCLUW (1-3, 0-1) next Friday in district play.
Newton 28, South Tama 27
NEWTON - A pair of three-game streaks were halted as Newton (1-3, 1-1) notched its first win of the season, a 28-27 triumph over previously unbeaten South Tama (3-1, 1-1) in Class 3A District 4 action.
South Tama tailback Kyle Stephenson carried 31 times for 203 yards and had three touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 92 yards.
STC quarterback Sam Kuhter was 6-for-11 for 180 yards, with Vinny Lasley catching one pass for 72 yards.
Defensively, Kuhter had two interceptions while Garrett Hoskey and Lasley both recovered fumbles. Austin Lowe, Erik Lux and Lasley each had eight tackles to lead STC, which hosts Saydel (0-5, 0-2) next Friday.
Bishop Garrigan 14, AGWSR 6
ACKLEY - The AGWSR football team suffered its second consecutive loss as Bishop Garrigan of Algona held the Cougars to just 149 yards of total offense in a 14-6 Bears victory Friday in Class A District 2 play.
AGWSR (3-2, 0-2) entered the game averaging 204.5 rushing yards per game, but Garrigan (2-2, 1-1) held the Cougars to only 96 yards on the ground. Nick Pieters led the AGWSR backs with 52 yards on 16 carries.
Austin Heitland scored the lone touchdown for the Cougars, hauling in a Cody Williams pass for a 28-yard connection. Williams finished 4-for-11 for 53 yards passing.
Levi Stockdale recorded 15 tackles and a fumble recovery and Trevor Bakker had 12 stops to lead the Cougar defense.
AGWSR goes on the road this Friday to face Southeast Webster-Grand (2-2, 0-2) in Burnside.
