Gladys 'Gladdie' Hillyer, 91, of Marshalltown, died on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at the Grandview Heights Center in Marshalltown following an extended illness, with her family by her side.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Corrine Welsch will officiate. Casket bearers will be Ray Lanfier, Jay Lanfier, Gary Lanfier Jr., Adam Flake, Brett Flake and Logan Lanfier. Burial will take place in Nichols Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will follow the committal at the Christian Church in Nichols.

Gladdie was born on October 11, 1920, in Keswick, the daughter of Lincoln and Clare Caskey Fridley. She married Clarence Elmer Hillyer on April 21, 1939, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death.
She had worked for Owens Brush Company in Iowa City until her retirement.
She enjoyed bowling, sewing, reading, playing cards, needlework, and having her family around.
Survivors include two daughters, Marcia Seelig of Albany, Georgia, and Connie Flake of Gladstone, Illinois; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Arlen Fridley and Bob Fridley, both of Leesburg, Florida, and Bernie Fridley of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; two brothers, Kenny and Roger Fridley; three sisters, Beryl Ruess, Shelia, and Irene Skinner; one grandson; and two sons-in-law.
