DES MOINES - Marshalltown Community College freshman Nate Carr scored a top-12 finish Friday at the Viking Invitational cross country meet.
But that was not nearly enough to help the Tigers finish at the top of the team standings.
Carr placed 12th overall and finished with a time of 27 minutes, 12 seconds, but the next best Tiger finisher was Allen Davis in 38th place. MCC wound up seventh out of seven teams on the day with 171 points.
Davis finished in 29:43, while David Duran was 74th in 35:22. Luke Hood was 77th in 37:10 and Austin Sayles finished 78th in 40:26.
Drake won the event with 17 points as the Bulldogs had four runners in the top seven and five in the first 11. Central was second with 62 points, while Mount Mercy was third and Southwestern was fourth. MCC finished just three points behind host Grand View University.
The only female runner to compete for MCC was Macy Logan and she finished in 52nd place with a time of 25:32.
