On Saturday afternoon, Grimes Farm offered a walk down memory lane during its Prairie Heritage Day 2012. As visitors strolled around, they found themselves surrounded by a simpler life and encouraged to take part in it.
Visitors could get "whipped into shape" by getting a jar filled with heavy whipping cream and shaking it, whipping it, and sloshing it around for 15 minutes till it turned into their own butter. They could also dip their own wax candles, make rope, throw buffalo chips and many other activities.
While visitors ventured from one thing to the next, they were treated with homemade fried bread balls, freshly pressed apple cider and music by Prairie Creek String Band.
