Brady Byers and Maribel Bracamonte are the proud parents of a son, Talon Lane, born Aug. 25 at 4:33 p.m. in Phoenix, Ariz. Talon weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 21 inches long at birth. Grandparents are Rich and Rita Byers, of Marshalltown and Maria Bernal, of Mesa, Ariz.

Bryan and Carrie Hay, of Midland, Mich., are the proud new parents of Kieden McKenna, born Sept. 19 at 2:22 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces and measuring 21 inches in length. Kieden is welcomed by her big brother Wally. Grandparents are Ann Hay, Steve Hay and Shari Harding, of Marshalltown. Great-Grandparents are Darleen Hay, of Otho, and Cecil Tesdahl, of Radcliffe.

Jared and Lindsay Whitaker are the parents of a son, Cael Allen, born at 6:09 p.m. on Aug. 31 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, weighing 7 pounds 10 ounces and measuring 21 inches long. He was welcomed home by big brother Drake. Grandparents are George "Skeeter" and Barb Tuttle, of Rhodes, and Kevin and Becky Whitaker, of Clemons. Great-grandparents are Jim and Greta Benson, of State Center, and Darlene Whitaker, of Ankeny.

Jessica and Matthew Vint, of Marshalltown, are the parents of a daughter, Brynn Rae Vint, born at 10:34 p.m. Sept. 13 at MMSC. Grandparents are Kent and Lori Daugherty and Mike and Cathy Vint.

Dirk and Sarah Kielman, of Melbourne, are the parents of a daughter, Ruth Ann, born at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 weighing 7 pounds, 9 ounces and measuring 20.25 inches in length. Welcoming Ruth Ann home are big sisters Carly, 16, and Emma, 13, and big brothers Ben, 10, Daniel, 8 and Joseph, 2. Grandparents are: Stan and Sandy Kielman, of Melbourne, and Keith and Cordelia Curtis, of Nampa, Idaho. Great grandmother is Cecelia Dawley, of Decorah.

Thursday

Jason Mull, 501 S. 6th St., made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Oct. 30 in Magistrate Court. Mull will hire his own attorney to represent him in this case. Mull was released on his own recognizance.

Alex Anaya, address unknown, made an initial appearance on an arrest warrant for a failure to appear for arraignment charge. The court continued the appointment of Laura Sopher as Anaya's counsel. The arraignment hearing is rescheduled for 1 p.m. on Oct. 9. Bond is set at $1,000 cash only.

Friday

Michael F. Meeker Sr., 1108 W. Iowa Ave. #14, made an initial appearance on a trespass charge and a public intoxication charge. He entered a not guilty plea on both charges. The court appointed Jeffrey Hazen to represent him in these cases. The pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Oct. 30.

Trisha Mundt, 309 1/2 S. 4th St., made an initial appearance on a driving while barred, habitual offender charge. The court appointed the public defender's office to represent her in this case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Oct. 17. Mundt was released on her own recognizance.

Michael Jones, of Spencer, made an initial appearance on an arrest warrant for a failure to appear for a contempt proceeding charge. The court appointed Jennifer Meyer to represent him in this case. The contempt hearing was rescheduled for 9 a.m. on Oct. 18 in District Court. Bond is set at $500 cash only.

Steven Kunch, c/o of the Marshall County Jail, made an initial appearance on a warrant for a violation of pre-trial release charge. The court continued the appointment Merrill Swartz to represent him in this case also. The pre-trial conference is set for 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 5. The jury trial is set for 9 a.m. on Oct. 11. A bond review hearing is set for 9 a.m. on Oct. 4. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

Danielle Spratt, 404 Woodbury St., made an initial appearance on a serious domestic assault charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Oct. 17. Spratt was released on her own recognizance. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Joshua Lanfier, 138 N. 1st St., made an initial appearance on an ongoing criminal conduct charge, an identity theft charge, a forgery charge, four counts of a theft in the fourth-degree charge and four counts of a theft in the fifth-degree charge. Lanfier will hire Chad Frese to represent in these cases before the court. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Oct. 8. Bond is set at $25,000 cash or surety.

Justin Davis, 2306 Yates Ave., made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Oct. 17. Davis was released on his own recognizance.

Magistrate Court

Joel Riley Jr., address unknown, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge and a dog at large charge. He pleaded guilty to both charges. On the public intoxication charge the fine was $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due immediately. The fine on the dog at large charge was $25 with a $8.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $93.75, due immediately.

Derick Bear, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a speeding charge. He pleaded guilty to both charges. On the driving under suspension charge the fine was $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due immediately. The fine on the speeding charge was $90 with a $31.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $181.50, due immediately.

Antonio Mercado, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a theft fifth-degree charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75 plus $40.02 in restitution, due immediately.

Esther Bueurostro, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a failure to have a valid driver's license charge. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Oct. 30.

Jose Zamora-Maldonado, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a striking unattended vehicle charge, a failure to maintain control charge and a failure to have a valid driver's license charge. He pleaded guilty to all charges. On the striking unattended vehicle charge the fine was $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due immediately. The fine on the failure to maintain control charge was $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195, due immediately. On the failure to have a valid driver's license charge the fine was $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330, due immediately.

Joseph Scott Danner, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a striking unattended vehicle charge and a no insurance charge. He pleaded guilty to all charges. On the striking unattended vehicle charge the fine was $65 with a $22.75 surcharge $60 for a total of $147.75, due immediately. The no insurance charge fine was $500 with $175 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $735, due immediately.

Incidents

On Thursday, Tracie Reisinger, 311 N. 12th Ave., reported the theft of a purse and contents while at the Blue Cactus Bar, 1101 S. 6th St. Estimated value of loss was $105.

On Thursday, Deana Triplett, 309 S. 12th Ave. Place, reported damage to two tires and two rear tires on a 1996 GMC Suburban and a 2007 Hyundai Sonata while parked at her residence. Estimated value of damage was $400 to one of the vehicles and $300 to the other.

On Sept. 22, Dane Mark Melton, 208 S. 3rd St. Apt. #10, reported the theft of a Trek 7.1 FX Mountain bicycle while at 3 S. 4th Ave., valued at $431.37.

Arrests

On Thursday, Diego Villa-Magena, 108 N. 12th St., was arrested for three counts of child endangerment without injury and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, marijuana.

On Thursday, Danielle Spratt, 404 Woodbury St., was arrested for serious domestic assault.

On Thursday, Tonyika Shantel Lewis, 504 Lee St., was arrested for trespass and public intoxication.

On Thursday, Michael Ray Meeker, 1108 W. Iowa Ave. #14, was arrested for trespass and public intoxication.

On Thursday, Trisha Kathleen Mundt, 309 1/2 S. 4th St., was arrested for driving while barred.

On Wednesday, Joseph Lee Diggins-Fiser, 105 E. Webster St. #107, was arrested for theft, fifth-degree from Walmart.

On Sept. 16, Corey Alan Alman, 407 Woodbury St., was arrested for credit card fraud over the internet.

Accidents

On Thursday, a pickup driven by Allison Fern Steward, of Le Grand, was southbound on North Third Avenue at the intersection with East State Street when in an attempt to turn left it collided with a car driven by Preston Lee Hofer, 12 Santa Barbara Dr. #12, which was traveling north on Third Avenue. No injuries were reported. There were conflicting reports from the drivers and the witnesses. Damage to the Steward pickup was estimated at $650 while the Hofer car received a $1,000 in damage.

On Wednesday, a car driven by Don M. Hornberg, 5 E. North St., was exiting a private driveway onto East Meadow Lane when it collied with a motorcycle driven by Richard David Miller, 1902 S. 3rd Ave., which was eastbound on Meadow Lane. Miller was injured, but not transported. Hornberg was cited for unsafe entry into roadway. Damage to the Hornberg car was estimated at $1,000 while the Miller motorcycle received an estimated $1,500 in damage.
